Urban is pleased to announce that the Benjamin Franklin Bridge Rehabilitation of the Suspension Span and Anchorages project was recognized with a New Jersey’s Leading Infrastructure Project award. The competition and award gala was hosted by the New Jersey Alliance for Action at a virtual ceremony.
“We would like to congratulate the Delaware River Port Authority and other key partners on the ongoing success of this project and on this recognition from the Alliance,” said James Bilella, PE, vice president of facilities and building systems for Urban. “We are proud to have played a part in the project by designing the replacement for the decorative lighting system. This rehabilitation is a great example of what can be done when organizations work as a team to develop a fantastic project.”
The Benjamin Franklin Bridge Rehabilitation of Suspension Spans and Anchorages project consists of five separate design projects combined together into one construction project. As part of this project, Urban and sub-consultant The Lighting Practice provided the design for the decorative lighting system upgrades. The upgrades will modernize and enhance the effectiveness of the bridge’s decorative lighting system through the use of RGBW color-changing light-emitting diode (LED) fixtures and an advanced networked lighting control system. In addition to these upgrades, the design expands the fixture locations which will improve the appearance of the bridge at night.
