Urban Engineers welcomes Edward Gourley, PE, Project Manager, to our Erie, PA office. Ed will be involved in project delivery in this role, including work quality, client service, staff development, contract management, and budget and schedule control for transportation projects. Ed is a seasoned professional with an impressive career of over thirty years in project management, roadway design, preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates. He is a professional engineer (PE) in Pennsylvania and Missouri.

 

When asked about joining Urban, Ed shared, “I’m excited to continue my career with Urban Engineers and to serve such a wonderful company committed to producing quality products and striving for client satisfaction.”

“We are happy to welcome Ed to our growing team in the Erie office. As a project manager, he will play a pivotal role in delivering projects to our clients in western Pennsylvania. His 32 years of experience in transportation design make him a key addition to Urban,” shared Justin Gibbons, Erie Office Manager.

 

After earning his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Penn State, Ed began his engineering journey as a highway designer at the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT). His dedication and talent quickly allowed him to advance and lead his design squad as a squad leader, demonstrating his strong leadership abilities.

 

In 2002, Ed returned to Pennsylvania, where he began his consulting engineering career. His leadership and expertise were instrumental in numerous projects, establishing him as a key figure in the region's engineering community.

 

Notable achievements:

  • Engineer of the Year, Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers (PSPE), Beaver County Chapter
  • Senior Engineer on the PA Turnpike Total Reconstruction project from Milepost 67 to 75
    • This project received several local and state awards, including:
      • PSPE Beaver County Chapter Project of the Year
      • American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) Pittsburgh Chapter Project of the Year
      • Engineers Society of Western Pennsylvania (ESWP) Project of the Year
  • Ed managed the design and delivery of 22 of 550+ bridge replacements for the Pennsylvania Rapid Bridge Replacement Program.
