Urban is proud to have received two prestigious Project of the Year Awards from the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) Delaware Valley Chapter for 2024. These awards recognize excellence in construction management services and highlight Urban’s commitment to the on-time, on-budget delivery of high-quality projects within the transportation infrastructure sector.
The first award was for the firm’s construction management services for the Betsy Ross Interchange, Section BR2, which is part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), District 6-0 multi-decade initiative to reconstruct and modernize I-95 through Philadelphia. The I-95 Reconstruction Program, one of Pennsylvania's most significant transportation investments, is projected to cost several billion dollars and continue through at least 2030. Section BR2, one of five phases of the Betsy Ross Interchange Project, was completed in 2023 and cost $96.5 million.
The second acknowledges Urban’s work for PennDOT, District 6-0 on the SR 2006, Section 476 - MacDade Boulevard Interchange Project. The project, approximately $19 million, focused on modernizing the existing infrastructure to accommodate increasing traffic volumes and improve access for motorists.
These awards demonstrate Urban’s dedication to advancing the region’s infrastructure while ensuring minimal disruption to commuters and residents. Our employees are essential to this effort, as their skills and commitment to every project find solutions that benefit the community.
“We thank the ASHE Committee for selecting Urban for these awards. We congratulate all the firms that contributed to the success of these projects. The Urban Team is proud to assist in delivering quality infrastructure projects on time and within budget,” said Doug Buchek, Vice President and General Manager for Urban.
“We’re honored to be recognized by ASHE Delaware Valley with these prestigious awards for our efforts on both challenging projects. Our involvement in delivering successful projects would not have been as impactful without the commitment and contributions of the designers, contractors, field staff, and most notably, PennDOT. We’re grateful to the ASHE Delaware Valley members for the honor and look forward to continuing to serve on projects like these in the future,” said Nicholas Loberto, PE, Construction Engineer at Urban.
