Urban Engineers Welcomes Gerald Arters, Vice President, Northeast Director of Construction

Urban is pleased to announce that Gerald (Gerry) Arters has joined the firm as Vice President, Northeast Director of Construction.

Mr. Arters has more than 36 years of experience in the engineering and construction industry, with extensive expertise in bridge, highway, and toll plaza infrastructure. His experience includes construction management, on-site supervision, contractor coordination, claims resolution, CPM scheduling, and inspection services.

“Gerry not only brings extensive experience managing complex construction projects for our clients, but he also brings proven business development acumen and a strong commitment to developing and supporting the growth of our talented construction staff,” said Urban’s Northeast Business Unit Director, Gary Etter, PE. “His leadership and technical expertise will strengthen our Northeast construction practice and play a key role in advancing our regional growth and project delivery.”

Mr. Arters has led multimillion-dollar projects for clients including the New Jersey Turnpike Authority (NJTA), the Delaware River & Bay Authority (DRBA), and the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT). Playing a key role in projects such as NJTA’s $2.2 billion Interchange 6 to 9 Widening Program, the largest expansion in Turnpike history, the $95 million Route 7 Kearny Drainage Improvements in Hudson and Bergen Counties, NJ, and several other high-profile projects.

"I'm excited to return to Urban, the place where I began my career in CMCI and contribute to its continued growth within the Northeast construction practice,” said Mr. Arters. “I look forward to working with the team to deliver complex infrastructure projects across the region.”

Mr. Arters serves on the Board of Trustees for the New Jersey Society of Asphalt Technologists (NJSAT), is a Highway Construction Level IV Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET), and is an American Council of Engineering Companies of New Jersey (ACECNJ) Committee Member for NJTA Construction Inspection.
