Urban Engineers is pleased to announce that it has entered into a professional services agreement with Mercer County, New Jersey, to be the county’s consultant in the design phase of improvements at Trenton-Mercer Airport (TTN), located in Ewing, New Jersey. Urban is located in Cherry Hill and is headquartered in Philadelphia.
“We are honored to renew our working relationship with Mercer County as they continue to invest in the development of the Trenton-Mercer Airport,” said Chris Gubeno, PE, an Urban vice president and general manager for aviation and site/land development. “A well-designed airport provides a direct link to the economic growth of a community, and our team is excited to get to work on this airport’s next round of improvements.”
Urban will guide the county through the rigorous process of investigating sites, developing an Environmental Assessment, and providing preliminary design for a new passenger terminal. Preliminary design phase, or Phase 1, includes associated projects such as airside aprons and roadways, and landside roadways and new parking garage. Urban’s New Jersey-based or located subconsultants for the agreement include Saphire + Albarran of Pennington; Advanced Infrastructure Design of Hamilton; Amy S. Greene Environmental Consultants, Inc. of Flemington; JM Sorge of Somerville; and Van Cleef of Hamilton.
Despite its small stature compared to similarly trafficked airports, Trenton-Mercer Airport now ranks 143rd out of 533 commercial U.S. airports, and is in the top 25 percent of all commercial airports.
Urban’s Cherry Hill office has more than 30 staff members. The firm’s aviation division has successfully provided airport planning, design, and construction management services since its inception. For decades, the firm has provided engineering design for various airport terminal and aviation facilities. Urban’s team of engineers and construction services personnel know and understand the specific building codes for terminals, hangars, and maintenance facilities.
