Urban Engineers is pleased to announce that Albert Scala has been promoted to vice president. Mr. Scala joined Urban as the firm’s regional manager in California in 2014.
“Al has been an excellent addition to our firm and has been the lynchpin in expanding our west coast operation,” said Urban President Kenneth R. Fulmer, PE. “His continued leadership of our firm from Los Angeles will only lead to sustained growth.”
In his current position, Mr. Scala is responsible for managing task orders related to Urban’s Project Management Oversight Consultant services contract for the Federal Transit Administration on the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Agency’s (LACMTA) Westside Subway Extension and Regional Connector projects.
Mr. Scala has more than 35 years’ experience, including serving in various consultant roles, as well as a tenure with the LACMTA where he served as deputy project manager, systems engineering manager, and director of procurement. He also spent more than seven years with the Bay Area Rapid Transit District where he served as Chief Systems Development Officer and Department Manager of Rail Vehicles. He brings a 360-degree experience in diversified engineering management duties involving planning, designing, and implementing heavy, light, electric multiple unit, and commuter rail projects. His expertise includes program management; systems engineering and integration; procurement strategy and implementation; feasibility analysis; conceptual and final engineering; Buy America compliance; and partnering and dispute resolution.
Urban Engineers recently moved its Los Angeles office to the Financial District of the city. The new address is 660 S. Figueroa Street, suite 1890.
