Urban was recently named a Diamond Level winner at GVF’s 7th Annual Sustainability Breakfast. The award represents the firm’s commitment to programs and initiatives that help reduce congestion and improve air quality, through travel demand management (TDM) and best sustainable practices.
“It is a great honor for our firm to achieve Diamond Level status from GVF’s Sustainable Awards program,” said Urban’s green committee chair and wellness and fitness manager, Patrick Williams, who accepted the award on behalf of the firm. “We are committed to achieving the highest levels of sustainability with not only our projects, but also our day-to-day operations, so we are excited to have obtained GVF’s new highest level of sustainability.”
Urban is a previous six-time winner of the Sustainable Awards program at the Platinum Level, which was previously the highest level that was awarded. Diamond Level was added this year as a new goal for organizations to strive toward. Urban was recognized at this level for many of its programs, including offering incentives to employees for walking, biking, carpooling/vanpooling, or taking transit to work, and for offering the maximum pre-tax transportation benefit, as defined by the IRS.
The Sustainability Breakfast featured a very dynamic and educational panel that included Urban President and CEO Kenneth R. Fulmer, PE. Attendees had the opportunity to hear from the innovative sustainability leaders, ranging in various sectors, on why they invest in TDM programs. Matt O'Donnell, 6abc Action News anchor, served as the master of ceremonies, distributing sustainability awards to over 30 organizations.
