March of Dimes Award 2022

Urban is pleased to announce that the March of Dimes honored the firm’s PennDOT Southeastern Regional Traffic Management Center (RTMC) and Parking Garage project at the annual PHL Transportation Building Construction (TB&C) Luncheon held at the Crystal Tea Room in Philadelphia. The RTMC and Parking Garage project was given the Alternative Delivery Project of the Year Award, while Urban was also honored for its continued sponsorship of the organization.

“We are excited to congratulate our clients PennDOT and the Pennsylvania Department of General Services, as well as all of the team members who came together for the RTMC and Parking Garage project, which was deservedly recognized by March of Dimes,” said Urban Senior Vice President Matthew Marquardt, PE. “Our firm and our people have historically shown support for the mission of March of Dimes, and we are proud to be a continuing sponsor and supporter of the organization.”

To improve regional traffic management efforts, the Pennsylvania Department of General Services sought a consultant team to create a modern facility for PennDOT District 6-0 to expand their capabilities for managing safety and traffic flow. Urban provided construction management services for this high-profile alternative delivery project. The work included construction of the two-story new Regional Traffic Management Center, designed to achieve LEED Silver certification; demolition of a parking structure; and construction of a two-level above-ground parking structure. The center will feature a digital video wall and robust data network to enhance traffic incident coordination and communication with the public and partners.

In the TB&C event’s 29-year history, almost $10 million has been raised for the March of Dimes mission. This year's event contributed more than $580,000 to the total.
