Urban is proud to announce that Katherine (Katie) Markowitz and James Moreno, EIT, have been recognized by the Greater Valley Forge Transportation Management Association (GVF) as Top Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Professionals Under 40. This award honors leaders who are using innovative transportation solutions to improve access and promote sustainable commuting alternatives.

“Katie and James each bring a thoughtful approach to their work and a genuine interest in making transportation better for the people who use it,” said Urban’s President and CEO, James A. Bilella, II, PE. “It’s great to see their contributions recognized by GVF, and we’re proud to have them on our team.”

Driven by a commitment to improve mobility while protecting environmental resources and quality of life, Ms. Markowitz, a Senior Environmental Scientist, supports transportation projects for numerous agencies, including the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), and the City of Philadelphia. Through her work, Ms. Markowitz helps advance roadway, bridge, transit, and trail improvements while considering their environmental and community impacts. Her environmental expertise helps incorporate transportation investments that support sustainable, multimodal mobility for the communities they serve. Ms. Markowitz also serves on the Board of Directors for ASHE Delaware Valley and is an active member of WTS Philadelphia, where she chairs the Emerging Leaders Program.

Mr. Moreno is an Engineer-in-Training helping shape safer, more accessible transportation systems across Pennsylvania. Through projects for PennDOT, the City of Philadelphia, and other regional agencies, he develops solutions that improve mobility for all road users. His work on Philadelphia’s Great Streets and Vine Street Safety Improvements projects supports Vision Zero goals by incorporating TDM strategies into heavily trafficked roadways. His roundabout experience applies Safe System principles that reduce crashes and enhance safety. Through his work, Mr. Moreno shows how the next generation of TDM professionals can use innovative, data-driven solutions to encourage safer travel choices and create more connected communities.
