Urban is pleased to announce that GVF has named Jaimie Younkins, PE, as a top Transportation Demand Management (TDM) professional under 40 years old. GVF presents these awards to ambitious leaders that are working to find creative solutions to improve our quality of life through engineering, planning, marketing campaigns, and the development of commuting alternative programs that are shifting behavioral change.
A registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania, Ms. Younkins has training and experience in various elements of highway design. Her duties include the design of right-of-way; construction; traffic control; erosion and sedimentation pollution control; and stormwater management plans. She is proficient in a number of software packages, including MicroStation and Inroads. Ms. Younkins received both an undergraduate degree in engineering and a master’s degree in construction management from Drexel University.
As a highway engineer with Urban, Ms. Younkins proved herself as a true staffer on the rise working on the Pennsylvania Turnpike’s Northeast Extension total reconstruction project. The project’s challenge was to incorporate modern highway design into a right-of-way that was largely established in the 1940s and 1950s. The key was controlling the aspect in the widening design of Milepost A31 to Milepost A38 of the Turnpike, which is one of the nation’s most important north-south highways. She also worked on the early action overhead bridge replacements. “It was rewarding to see multiple jobs that I helped design be constructed,” she said.
Transportation Demand Management affects each and every one of us on a daily basis as we travel from Point A to Point B. GVF is a not-for-profit group created to advocate and promote a viable transportation network for the Greater Valley Forge region’s economic vitality. The organization honors TDM professionals under 40 annually as a testament to the ever-evolving role TDM and these individuals play in local communities.
