Urban is pleased to announce that the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Lehigh Valley Section has named Nicholas Giglio the Young Engineer of the Year. Mr. Giglio is a transportation construction inspector based out of the firm’s Allentown office.

“I am honored to receive this award from ASCE Lehigh Valley,” Mr. Giglio said. “Working directly in the engineering and construction field has allowed me to play an important role in projects in our region. Participating in various industry-related events and projects this year has allowed me to learn an extensive amount. This acknowledgment from the local section of ASCE confirms my career is on the right path!”

Mr. Giglio earned a degree in civil engineering from Penn State Harrisburg. While still attending school, he passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and received his Engineer-In-Training (EIT) license immediately after graduation. Mr. Giglio then jumped right into work as a transportation construction inspector, and was promoted after a year and a half in the field. His experience now includes $25 million projects, and he has served as the owner’s representative for site construction on projects which include a concrete arch bridge rehabilitation and a full-depth highway reconstruction project.

The purpose of the ASCE Lehigh Valley Section’s Young Civil Engineer of the Year award is to recognize and distinguish, in a dignified public way, an outstanding young civil engineer each year. The award does not focus primarily on work for and on behalf of ASCE, since other awards serve this purpose. Instead, this award focuses on young civil engineers who have distinguished themselves by outstanding achievements and contributions to the civil engineering profession, to the education and support of younger engineers and future engineers, and to the community at large. Learn more about Mr. Giglio on Urban’s website.
