For Antoine Joseph, engineering is more than just a career; it's a fundamental part of his life. As the son of two engineers who met while studying at Temple University, Antoine was exposed to the possibilities of the profession from an early age. Now a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Urban, he brings enthusiasm and energy to every project.

Among all his assignments, the Trenton Mercer Airport (TTN) Terminal Expansion stands out. “It was a complex project with many moving parts,” Antoine explains. “However, that complexity is what made it so rewarding. It challenged our team to collaborate, think critically, and address real-world problems; all aspects of engineering that I truly enjoy.”

Antoine served as the lead mechanical engineer for the TTN project, which involved a major expansion and modernization of the airport’s terminal to accommodate growing passenger demand and enhance overall operational efficiency. The design included state-of-the-art HVAC and plumbing systems tailored to meet the strict performance, energy efficiency, and safety requirements of a modern airport. Antoine was responsible for coordinating the mechanical scope, ensuring code compliance, and integrating systems into the existing infrastructure while maintaining functionality during the construction phase.

Mentorship plays a significant part in Antoine's life. Outside of work, he actively participates in the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), serving as the Treasurer for the Philadelphia Professionals Chapter. In this role, he mentors and creates opportunities for the next generation of engineers, particularly those who may not have always seen themselves represented in the field. Recently, he chaired a session at NSBE's regional conference to help college students navigate the process of obtaining their Professional Engineer (PE) license. He later delivered this talk virtually to an expanded audience of aspiring professionals. “I’ve had mentors who guided me along the way,” Antoine says. “Now I want to support others in the same way.”

Outside of work, Antoine keeps a balanced life by traveling and playing sports, especially enjoying recreational basketball. These activities help him stay grounded and appreciate the journey.

His advice for future engineers is to “Keep learning. The field of engineering is always evolving, and so should you.”
