At Urban Engineers, Inc., we help build the infrastructure that moves cities forward. Our 350-person firm has been headquartered in Philadelphia since 1960. Our team of planners, scientists, designers, engineers, and construction professionals don’t just work in Philadelphia—we live here, commute here, and are deeply invested in the systems that keep our region running. That’s why the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) is more than just a transit agency to us. It’s a lifeline—for our employees, our clients, the Greater Philadelphia Region, and the entire Commonwealth.

Every day a significant number of our employees rely on SEPTA to get to our office, job sites, work-related meetings, and industry-related events. From suburban regional rail riders to bus and trolley commuters, SEPTA provides an affordable, safe, and sustainable mode of transportation.  Our employees also rely on SEPTA for managing other daily responsibilities that both support our economy and overall well-being, including healthcare appointments, childcare, shopping, and accessing recreational activities.  For many of our employees, especially younger professionals and those living in neighborhoods without convenient car access, SEPTA isn’t a choice—it’s a necessity.

That’s why ongoing investment in SEPTA is not just about trains, buses, or trolleys—it’s about people. It's about our engineers who depend on reliable service to get to job sites. It’s about interns who gain access to career opportunities because SEPTA connects their neighborhoods to our office; and increases the chances that these young professionals will remain in Pennsylvania after graduation and contribute positively to our region. And it’s about clients and partners who count on us to be present, punctual, and ready to solve problems that help our Commonwealth thrive.

Urban Engineers is proud to work on projects that contribute to a better transportation future, and we know that SEPTA must be a central part of that vision. Our city cannot afford to neglect the very system that connects our communities, supports our economy, and enables thousands of professionals—ours included—to contribute to the city’s growth every single day.

SEPTA is not just public transit—it’s a public good. And for the employees of Urban Engineers, it’s personal.

If you would like to take action to help SEPTA avoid service cuts and fare increases, consider the following ways to get involved:

  • Contact Pennsylvania elected officials. You can find your legislator using this link: https://www.palegis.us/find-my-legislator. You can also contact PA lawmakers easily using this link:  Action Center
  • Spread the word about the impact these cuts will have on friends, neighbors, our region, and our Commonwealth.
  • Stay informed and educate others on SEPTA’s impact on the region
