As National Practice Leader for Aviation, Dale leads Urban’s aviation efforts nationwide. With over 34 years of international experience, he specializes in coordinating airside projects and facilitating communication among airports, their tenants and users, the FAA, and project design teams. Dale’s extensive knowledge of FAA standards and processes allows him to expedite and execute airport planning around federal funding requirements by procuring grants, managing Passenger Facility Charges (PFCs), and creating project bid packages to secure and utilize available funds efficiently. Additionally, Dale’s expertise in managing multidisciplinary public works projects enables him to manage large teams from various specialties successfully.
Dale takes great pride in overseeing Urban’s ongoing engineering design practice for clients such as Philadelphia International and Trenton-Mercer Airports. He is particularly proud of recent award-winning projects at Newark Liberty International Airport and Bradley International Airport in Connecticut, as well as at China Lake Naval Air Weapons Station in California. Every day, these projects challenge him to find unique solutions to the various tasks that arise.
Before becoming a leader for Urban’s aviation practice, Dale spent nearly two decades designing highway and municipal roadway projects. His highway and roadway career brought him across the United States and Canada, working on significant projects across California, Ontario, and Massachusetts. Dale graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Queen’s University at Kingston in Ontario, Canada. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in multiple states and provinces, including northeastern states such as Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, as well as more distant locales such as Tennessee, Ohio, Texas, and California.
