Carol Martsolf, PE, PMP, CPTD, LEED AP, who serves as the Chief Learning Officer at Urban Engineers, has achieved another significant accomplishment by obtaining the Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) certification from the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI). ENV SPs are recognized as experts in sustainable and resilient infrastructure.

ISI was founded by the American Public Works Association (APWA), the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) in 2010. Envision is a framework developed by ISI that encourages systemic changes in the planning, design, and delivery of sustainable, resilient, and equitable civil infrastructure through education, training, and third-party project verification. The sustainability and resilience indicators (credits) are Quality of Life, Leadership, Resources Allocation, Natural World, and Climate and Resilience. Envision sets the standard for sustainable, resilient, and equitable infrastructure.

This certification further aligns with Carol's work at Urban Engineers, her role as Chair of the Delaware County Sustainability Commission, and her position on PECO's Environmental Justice Advisory Committee.

With this certification, Carol can lead transformative initiatives to uplift and empower communities. By prioritizing projects that provide sustainable and resilient infrastructure, communities become not only environmentally sustainable but also equitable and inclusive. This results in safer, healthier, and more resilient communities, creating long-term benefits for current and future residents.

“To be more resilient, sustainable, and equitable, we must change our practices as a profession. Envision is one significant step toward planning, designing, and building a sustainable future for all,” shared Carol.
