Urban is pleased to announce that Angelo Waters, PE, LEED AP, has been named president of the American Society of Civil Engineers’ (ASCE) Philadelphia Section. Mr. Waters, who serves as a vice president and environmental practice leader at Urban, was installed in the position last night at the organization’s annual Spring Social held at Sky Philadelphia.

“I am truly honored to be taking on the role of president for the Philadelphia Section of ASCE and ready to continue the forward momentum of the chapter,” said Mr. Waters. “I am excited to work with our members to continue ASCE’s mission in our region by advancing civil engineering and serving the public good.”

A registered Professional Engineer in five states and a LEED Accredited Professional, Mr. Waters earned his master’s in engineering management and bachelor’s in environmental engineering from Drexel University. He previously served as the vice president of the Philadelphia Section of ASCE, and is also a current member of the Society of American Military Engineers.

As part of his involvement is ASCE, Mr. Waters was given the opportunity to provide kindergarten through 12th-grade student outreach on topics of civil and environmental engineering, a program that reached over 1,300 students. He is a previous Philadelphia Business Journal 40 Under 40 honoree and received the Environmental Engineer of Year Award from the Philadelphia Chapter of ASCE in 2015.

The Philadelphia Section of ASCE was officially recognized by the national organization in December of 1912. For over 100 years, the section has been serving a community full of civil engineering professionals, younger members, students, and other civil engineering supporters in Philadelphia and surrounding regions.
