A Vice President and Practice Leader, Edwin J. Williamson, PE, leads the firm’s Program Management practice nationwide. Within this role, he works collaboratively with the firm’s business lines and office leaders to strategically plan pursuits as well as manage ongoing projects.
Ed has over 35 years of experience in the engineering, design and construction of electric utility, industrial and transportation facilities located throughout the United States. He has provided engineering, design, licensing and construction support services for nuclear, fossil and hydroelectric central station power plants. Ed has lead multi-discipline engineering/design teams on pump station, landfill, warehouse and rail transit projects. He has served as both Project Manager and Field Project Engineer on major highway projects in the metropolitan New York City area.
Ed is currently leading Urban’s contract with the Federal Transit Administration for providing project management oversight services on two federally funded multi-billion dollar rail transit projects in New York City, the East Side Access Project for the Long Island Rail Road and the Second Avenue Subway Project, Phase 1, for New York City Transit. These two projects are among the largest FTA Full Funding Grant Agreement projects ever awarded.
When he’s not managing multi-billion dollar construction programs, Ed enjoys activities with his extended family. He also makes time for pursuing other interests including photography, music and history.
A Registered Professional Engineer in New Jersey, Ed earned his master’s degree in construction management from Stevens Institute of Technology and his bachelor’s degree in civil and structural engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology. He is an active member in the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Construction Management Association of America and the National Society of Professional Engineers.
