The City of Norwalk, CT has selected Urban Engineers (Urban) to design traffic signal system upgrades for 14 traffic signals in the third phase of its Traffic Signal System Upgrade Project.

Urban’s scope of work involves full signal replacement, controller upgrades, fiber optic communications, signal timing optimization, and intersection improvements. The multi-million project (including all phases) received funding from the Federal Highway Administration’s competitive Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program, which funds projects that improve air quality and reduce traffic congestion.

“This project will upgrade and optimize key portions of Norwalk’s traffic system, improving traffic flow and pedestrian safety,” said Urban’s Project Manager, Orla Pease, PE, PTOE. “We are excited to work with the City on these upgrades.”
