Urban’s Órla Pease named President of MASITE

Urban is pleased to announce that Órla Pease, PE, PTOE, has been sworn in as president of the Mid-Atlantic Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (MASITE). The chapter is one of over 80 local/regional chapters of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) and covers Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, Delaware, and West Virginia.

“I am thrilled and honored to be taking over this leadership role for such an important organization in our business,” said Ms. Pease. “I look forward to supporting the professional development of our members, encouraging education initiatives, and developing public awareness programs that back the transportation industry and inform the public of its vital function.”

Ms. Pease’s efforts with the Pennsylvania traffic consulting division at Urban helped quadruple the number of employees and increase revenue three-fold since 2011. Serving as a vice president and Philadelphia regional manager of the firm, her leadership and proactive business approach have led to lucrative contracts with the City of Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the Delaware Department of Transportation, and the New Jersey Department of Transportation, as well as various municipalities in Connecticut. Ms. Pease received her master’s from University College in Cork, Ireland, is a registered Professional Engineer in five states, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware, and is a nationally registered Professional Traffic Operations Engineer.

Ms. Pease recently helped Urban secure the City of Philadelphia’s Roosevelt Boulevard Oversight Contract. The coordination involved with this major improvement program along Roosevelt Boulevard in Northeast Philadelphia is extensive and will ultimately improve safety and mobility for pedestrians and motorists on this busy thoroughfare.

MASITE is governed by an executive board according to the section charter and by-laws and its membership is made up of transportation engineers, transportation planners, and those affiliated with the transportation engineering profession. MASITE currently has over 600 active members. Its parent organization, ITE, is an international educational and scientific association of nearly 17,000 members, working in more than 90 countries that are responsible for meeting mobility and safety needs.
