Urban Engineers is pleased to announce that Carol Martsolf, PE, LEED AP, has been reappointed to a second three-year term on the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Region 2 Board of Governors. Ms. Martsolf serves as a vice president and leads Urban’s Training Institute at the firm’s Philadelphia headquarters. She was previously elected as a regional governor in the fall of 2015.

“It is again an honor to be given a leadership position by ASCE, one of the most important organizations in the engineering industry,” Ms. Martsolf said. “In my renewed position, I plan to continue ASCE’s mission to provide essential value to our members and partners, advance civil engineering, and serve the public good.”

As a governor, she is the intermediary between ASCE National and the local sections and branches. Ms. Martsolf, who is a Philadelphia Section Past-President, is an ASCE National Daniel W. Meade Prize for Ethics award winner and also received the ASCE National Edmund Friedman Young Engineer Award for Professional Achievement. In addition, Martsolf received the ASCE Zone 1 Citizen Engineer Award and ASCE Philadelphia Younger Member of the Year.

ASCE Region 2 includes the four Pennsylvania Sections (Central PA, Lehigh Valley, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh), as well as the Delaware, Maryland, and National Capital Sections.

A graduate of Temple University and a Professional Engineer with 24 years of experience, Ms. Martsolf utilized her technical expertise and career knowledge to develop dynamic training programs and created the Urban Training Institute. Under her leadership, the Institute quickly evolved into an award-winning and highly-respected institution. In 2008, Urban became an Authorized Provider with the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and received the National Exemplar Award for Internal Training in 2010. The program has since evolved to become a dynamic business for Urban, offering professional development opportunities for the entire A/E/C community, who can now participate in the Institute’s classes from anywhere in the world through an online connection. Since its inception, the program is responsible for awarding over 12,000 professional development hours to its participants.
