The Pennsylvania and Delaware Chapters of The ESOP Association recently honored Urban Engineers, Inc. as its 2012 ESOP Company of the Year.

The award was bestowed on Urban representatives Ronald W. Swerdon, and Thomas Davis at this year’s Multi-State ESOP Conference (NY/NJ, PA/DE) in Scranton, PA. Urban was recognized for its extraordinary efforts in communicating the significance of ESOP to its employees, including presentations, town meetings, special drives for disadvantaged individuals, news articles, and collateral material. Urban is an active participant in The ESOP Association, regularly sending representatives to the Annual Multi-State ESOP conference while attending a number of ESOP seminars in the region.

Urban employs over 475 employees and has about 620 total participants in the ESOP; however, not all are current employees. To participate, an employee must be at least 18 years old and have worked 1,000 hours in a plan year to become eligible to enter into and receive distributions from the ESOP. Urban has an active ESOP Communications Committee which helps promote awareness and education by serving Urban’s employees in all ESOP matters.
