10,000 HOURS! That’s the equivalent of someone sitting in a classroom for eight hours a day, seven days a week, and for three and a half years.

It is also the number of Professional Development Hours (PDH) that Urban’s Training Institute has awarded under the extraordinary leadership of Vice President and Manager of Training, Carol Martsolf, PE, LEED® AP. According to Martsolf, the 10,000th hour was eclipsed in a course last month by Urban Engineers’ staff member Nancy Meronyck.

This once “special initiative,” which started as a leadership circle project by Martsolf, is now woven into the fabric of Urban’s services. The Training Institute covers a variety of technical and professional development areas, including stormwater management, ethics, pedestrian facility design, construction management, municipal engineering, scheduling, cost estimating, and many other topics.

Urban Engineers is accredited as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). IACET Authorized Providers are the only organizations approved to offer IACET Continuing Education Units (CEUs). In 2010, Urban received the IACET Exemplar Award for Internal Training.
