The new transit hub enhances the mobility of students, business professionals, and residents, and promotes economic development in the city and throughout Dutchess County. It offers transportation connections with the nearby Poughkeepsie Station for commuter and intercity rail services and consolidates bus transfers for customers of the City of Poughkeepsie Transit, Dutchess County LOOP, and Ulster County Area Transit for about 150 buses serving the region daily.

Funded by the Federal Transit Administration through an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grant, this $1.2 million project delivers efficient bus route drop-off and pick-up; customer comfort and convenience; provision of transit information; centralized intermodal transfers; improved vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle access; and safety and security of these connections – all in an aesthetically pleasing environment.

As engineering design consultant, Urban Engineers of New York, D.P.C. (Urban) was responsible for project management, quality assurance, contract administration, survey, drainage, lighting, structural, and grading design, and construction administration.

“We are very pleased to see the timely and cost-efficient completion of this bus transit hub, a significant transportation enhancement that will serve the city, Dutchess County, and the surrounding communities for future generations,” said Urban’s Project Manager, Paul Dionisio, PE. “Patrons of the transit hub now have access to the services and schedules to make informed travel choices.”
