Urban is pleased to announce that Peter Fedun, PE, has been hired by the firm as the deputy practice leader for rail and transit. He joins the firm with more than 30 years of engineering experience specializing in rail transit design for light rail transit, heavy rail, and high-speed rail.
“We are excited to have Peter come on board in a leadership role for our rail and transit practice,” said Matthew Marquardt, PE, an Urban senior vice president and COO for vertical services. “He is a proven talent in the industry, and his expertise will enhance the level of service we are able to provide for our clients.”
Mr. Fedun has served in increasingly responsible positions while working on major transit projects throughout North America and in Asia. He has contributed to the planning, final design, construction, and maintenance phase of related projects, and has prepared contract documents for conventional design-bid-build, design-build, and P3 procurements. Mr. Fedun began his career as a structural engineer and developed conceptual, preliminary, and final structural designs for viaducts, bridges, tunnels and other transit-related facilities. As an accomplished project manager, he has a demonstrated ability to build teams, facilitate complex project work, and satisfy client expectations.
Mr. Fedun is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a registered Professional Engineer in six states including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Florida, and North Carolina. He is a member of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA), and serves on the Committee of 12 – Rail Transit as secretary.
