The Erie Water Works Wasielewski Water Treatment Plant has been recognized by the American Society of Civil Engineers, Pittsburgh chapter with a Civil Engineering Achievement of the Year Award. The treatment plant received $42 million in renovations, making it the largest retrofitted membrane filtration water treatment plant in the United States. Built in the 1930s, the treatment plant previously used a sand filtration system. Now, the updated membrane system collects particles in the water and can filter more than 45 million gallons of water per day.

In collaboration with CDM Smith, Urban Engineers provided structural, site, geotechnical, surveying, and construction inspection services for the project.
