An International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) Authorized Provider since 2008, Urban Engineers (Urban) is now offering a total of two hours or 0.2 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to participants of its “Mega Projects” Tour who successfully complete the learning program. The session includes public tours and technical presentations of the East Side Access, Second Avenue Subway and One World Trade Center projects in New York City.

Urban, which has been integrally involved in managing the construction of these projects, has been hosting clients and members of the firm for the day-long public tour since December 2011. The tours, which typically begin and conclude at Urban’s New York City (NYC) office at Two Penn Plaza, include two presentations for the two hours of training. The first is by Urban’s NYC Deputy Office Manager, Edwin Williamson, PE, who presents on Urban’s Program Management Oversight of the East Side Access and Second Avenue Subway projects, two of the largest public works projects ever in America. The second is by John Sabatino, AIA, LEED® AP, who presents on the One World Trade Center (previously referred to as the Freedom Tower). Since 2007, Mr. Sabatino has been supplying legal and accounting professionals with the technical architectural and engineering expertise required to provide the monitoring of the design and construction of the $3.1 billion project for The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) executive team.

The tour also includes visits to the East Side Access project in Queens, the One World Trade Center construction site, and World Trade Center Memorial, where Urban’s Safety Manager, Christopher Connor, retired Fire Department City of New York Fire Marshall, speaks about his experience as a survivor and first responder to the site during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
