As Regional Manager, Albert Scala, oversees the strategic pursuits and operations for the firm’s Western Region, which includes the Los Angeles, CA office.
Al has more than 38 years of experience, including serving in various private sector consultant roles, as well as a six-year tenure with the LACMTA where he acted as Deputy Project Manager/Systems Engineering and Director of Contracts. He also spent more than seven years with the Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) where he served as Chief Systems Development Officer and Department Manager of Rail Vehicles.
He brings a 360-degree experience in diversified engineering management duties involving planning, designing, and implementing heavy, light, electric multiple unit, and commuter rail projects. His expertise includes systems engineering, procurement/program management, system integration, feasibility analysis, conceptual and final engineering, FTA compliance assistance, and dispute resolution. He has also consulted for the FTA on various federal New Start programs.
Outside of the office, his passion is adding to his 400 bottle wine collection. He also enjoys golf, skiing and hiking. One of his most memorable accomplishments was running a 26.2 Mile Marathon in a little over 3 ½ Hours.
Al earned his MBA from Robert Morris University and bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a member of the American Railway Engineering & Maintenance Association (AREMA), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) and Women in Transportation Seminar (WTS).
