Urban is providing Maryland SHA, District 3 with design and survey services, including topographical surveys, metes and bounds, right-of-way plat preparation, highway, traffic, structural engineering; signing and marking; maintenance of traffic plans; stormdrain design; stormwater management; erosion and sediment control; ADA sidewalk and ramp design; hydrology and hydrologic designs; CADD/drafting services;  and development of preliminary and final engineering plans, such as intersection improvements and safety upgrades.  The area of District 3 covers Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties in Maryland. Additional task assignments may include wetland mitigation design, environmental permitting, and other related construction support and special project assistance, or providing supplemental support to work within the District Office, or at other District facilities, per the directive of the MSHA’s Project Manager.

Task No. 3 – Safety and Resurfacing of MD 202 from Prince George’s Community College Entrance to MD 214:  We prepared an IFB Package which consisted of safety and resurfacing improvements of MD 202 from Prince George’s Community College Entrance to MD 214, approximately 0.75 miles in length.  The project was funded through the Fund 77 program for resurfacing and contract documents were prepared in a book form.  We evaluated existing sidewalks, curb and gutters, bus stops, medians and driveways (where the curb crosses a pedestrian path) and recommended replacement only if they are physically damaged or if they might cause any safety hazard. We also evaluated existing ramps and upgraded to meet SHA ADA design standards and provided ramp details, evaluated/recommended improvements to existing features such as guardrails, end treatments, inlets, storm drain pipes etc. Recommendations included upgrades to guardrails and end treatments, cleaning existing inlets and storm drain pipes and replacement, repair, or identify need for a concrete collar, if necessary.  We also evaluated for bicycle compatibility and determine if restriping is needed to accommodate a wider outside lane and modify typical sections accordingly.  Our Team prepared and submited waivers for bicycle compatibility where modifications to existing lane striping cannot be altered to provide a higher level of bicycle accommodations.

Task 4 – Safety and Resurfacing of MD 410 from Riverdale Road to MD 450, Prince George’s County: We prepared a Special Provisions Book (IFB) and supporting documents for safety and resurfacing of MD 410 from Riverdale Road to MD 450 in Prince George’s County. Estimated length of this project is about 1.13 miles.  Work included: evaluate existing ramps, upgrade to meet SHA ADA design standards and provide ramp details, evaluate existing sidewalks, curb and gutter, medians and driveways (where the curb crosses a pedestrian path) and recommend replacement only if they are physically damaged or if they might cause any safety hazard, evaluate/recommend improvements to existing features such as guardrails, inlets, storm drain pipes etc., cleaning existing inlets and storm drain pipes and replacement, repair, or identify need for a concrete collar, if necessary.  We also evaluated for bicycle compatibility and determine if restriping is needed to accommodate a wider outside lane and modify typical sections accordingly and submitted for SWM waivers / exemptions and develop quantities and cost estimate.
