Improvements to pedestrian access to the Claymont train station from Philadelphia Pike were identified as a needed component of the US 13, Philadelphia Pike, Claymont Transportation Plan Implementation in Delaware’s New Castle County. The two areas of improvement that were identified included providing sidewalk along Myrtle Avenue and to close the sidewalk gap along Manor Avenue to the Governor‐Printz Boulevard Extension. Construction of the sidewalk gap closure on Manor Avenue has been completed.

Along with closing the sidewalk gap, additional parking space was requested at the Governor-Printz Extension Claymont station supplemental parking area. Several planning concepts were developed to present alternatives for the sidewalk layout and parking modifications. This project involves the construction of new sidewalk, ADA curb ramps, curb retaining walls, curbing, lighting, signing, striping and minor drainage modifications/additions along the Governor-Printz Boulevard Extension.
