As Vice President and General Manager of Urban’s Rail & Transit business line, John S. Holak, Jr. oversees the firm’s Class 1 freight rail and passenger transit practice areas nationwide, which includes rail and transit planning, design, program management, construction management, and program management oversight for several funding agencies.

 

With over 34 years of experience in the industry, John’s experience is extensive and is built around providing the best end user experience possible while continually exceeding client expectations. This is apparent on his recent experience leading projects for the FTA, FRA, SEPTA, AMTRAK, NJ Transit, and DART. He is a dedicated and adaptable financial and administrative executive with extensive experience in increasing responsibility in the solicitation, administration, and negotiation of private and government contracts and the preparation, audit, and analysis of financial systems and statements. Mr. Holak also leads the firm’s national Risk Assessment/Management, Procurement/Contract Administration, Financial Assessment, and Buy America practice areas extending over several business lines. He is a proven leader who takes pride in the integrity, efficiency, and thoroughness of all work.
 

When he is not traveling the country to support Urban’s client-based initiatives, you can find John deep sea fishing, a hobby he learned from his father at a young age, or spending time with his family. He loves spending time at home with his wife and children.   

 

John earned an MBA in financial management from St. Joseph’s University and possesses an undergraduate degree in accounting from LaSalle University. He is a member of the National Contract Management Association, Association of General Contractors, and Construction Financial Management Association.
