Charter Oak Communities (COC) recently celebrated the dedication of their newest residential community “Westwood,” a $21.6 million complex consisting of 95 apartments and 120,000 SF on a 4.39-acre site. Attending the ceremony were the Mayor of Stamford, representatives from Housing and Urban Development, Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development, Connecticut Housing Finance Authority, and the local community.

Formerly the Stamford Housing Authority, COC has been developing attractive, affordable homes for thousands of Stamford residents through creative and innovative partnerships that have redefined the way public-assisted housing communities are developed. COC is changing Stamford’s landscape by replacing aging buildings and blight with modern facilities that are welcome by the neighborhoods.

Urban Engineers has been working side by side with COC for five years, providing construction inspection services. Azad Kareem, PE of the Hartford office has now completed his fourth project with COC and is currently working on his fifth assignment.
