Urban is pleased to announce the expansion of structural engineering capabilities in its Philadelphia office, with the relocation of Jeffrey S. Yeager, PE. Mr. Yeager serves as the deputy structural practice leader for the firm and previously worked in Urban’s Erie, Pennsylvania, office.
“Jeff’s move to Philadelphia will further enhance our services to east coast-based clients,” said David Steele, PE, LEED AP, a vice president and general manager of Urban’s structural practice. “He is widely respected in the industry for his technical expertise and will be instrumental in increasing Urban's facility market share in the region.”
“I have been excited about the move to Philadelphia and the chance to interact more closely with our clients,” said Mr. Yeager. “It is our firm’s belief that a structure should enhance the vision of a project, not interfere with or obstruct it. I look forward to continuing to grow our practice and lend our structural engineering expertise to projects of all sizes and complexities.”
Mr. Yeager, a registered Professional Engineer in seven states and graduate of Youngstown State University, has extensive design experience from early planning stages through construction administration. He provides project management and structural engineering for facilities and building systems, including mid-rise projects in high-seismic and high-velocity hurricane zones. Mr. Yeager oversees other structural engineering experts that use innovative programs for Building Information Modeling (BIM) and 3-D modeling, such as Autodesk® Revit, to provide detailed, comprehensive analyses that help stakeholders in envisioning a project’s desired future.
Urban’s structural project portfolio consists of commercial development, including office, residential and mixed use; higher education; historic structures; transportation; arts and cultural; and industrial facilities. Additionally, the firm lends expertise in OSHA crane/monorail load rating, parking garages, existing condition evaluations, and forensic engineering. Urban’s structural engineering practice has received national recognition for its efforts and has garnered awards from the American Institute of Steel Construction, the Steel Joist Institute, and the American Council of Engineering Companies. Its projects have also appeared in national publications such as Modern Steel Construction, Structural Engineer, Engineering News-Record, and The New York Times.
