Urban has been selected by the U.S. Department of Transportation, Volpe National Transportation Systems Center  to provide monitoring and technical assistance to the Federal Rail Administration (FRA).

Under this five-year indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) task order contract, Urban’s scope of work may include monitoring, technical assistance, compliance, program management, deliverable review, and training. The maximum amount of work issued could total $70 million. In administering these assignments, Urban will draw upon close to 30 years of related experience gained through providing program management oversight experience to the Federal Transit Administration, as well as a proven record with task order contracts.

According to Margarita Gagliardi, Vice President of Transit Planning and Project Manager, “The opportunity to support the VolpeCenter and FRA with the development and implementation of passenger rail advancements throughout the country is just extraordinary. Our team is looking forward to helping improve mobility and the quality of life for all those affected.”

The VolpeCenter is a federal fee-for-service organization within the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Research and Innovative Technology Administration. The center partners with public and private organizations to assess the needs of the transportation community, evaluate research and development endeavors, assist in the deployment of state-of-the-art transportation technologies, and inform decision- and policy-making through comprehensive analysis.

“This selection presents Urban a significant opportunity to assist an important national client,” Edward M. D’Alba, PE, Urban’s President and CEO, said. “Equipped with more than five decades of proven experience in the transportation arena and unparalleled technical expertise, we look forward to the many paths and tracks we’ll be able to pursue with this assignment.”
