Urban is pleased to announce that it was named the 2017 Sustaining Member Firm of the Year by the Philadelphia Post of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME). Urban has been a Sustaining Member of SAME for more than 20 years and has had employees actively involved in the organization over that period.
“It is an honor to be recognized by a great and trusted organization like SAME,” said Roy Denmark, an Urban vice president and general manager for ports, waterways, and environmental services. “We are proud to support their goal of uniting public and private sector entities and individuals in the A/E/C fields so that we can prepare for and overcome natural and man-made disasters, acts of terrorism, and improve security at home and abroad.”
Urban staff have served in various leadership positions within the Philadelphia Post. The firm has been a reliable and consistent supporter of numerous SAME functions including the Philadelphia Post’s Liberty Golf Classic and the NYC/NJ Post Golf Outing.
Mr. Denmark currently serves on the board of directors of the Philadelphia Post and has been a member of SAME and the Philadelphia Post since 1985. He served as Post secretary from 1986 to 1991, has served on the board of directors since 1999, and served as Post president from 2014 to 2015. He has served as co-chairman of the Philadelphia Post’s Liberty Golf Classic, which is the Post’s primary scholarship program and fundraiser since its inception in 1987.
SAME is the only nonprofit professional engineering education organization that actively promotes the advancement of both individual technical knowledge and the collective engineering capabilities of governments, the uniformed services, and private industry.
