Andy Quinn, PE, LEED® AP, Urban Engineers Ports and Waterways Practice, earned the opportunity to represent the United States at the Pan American Games by winning United States Rowing Trials in the Open Men’s Double Sculls event.

Representing Philadelphia’s Undine Barge Club, Quinn and rowing partner Daniel Urevick-Ackelsberg, crossed the 2000 meter finish line in a time of 6:21.94, three seconds ahead of the second-place finishers from Oklahoma City. According to Quinn, “Putting things in engineering terms, the race felt like a project when it’s moving ahead of schedule. By establishing an early lead, we could focus on our rowing technique (quality) and work together to maximize efficiency. As the finish line became closer, our established lead (float) provided a sense of calm and security in a tense environment.

“At Urban, I am fortunate to have a great support network which allows me to pursue career and personal goals. This enables my best performance, both professionally and on the United States rowing team,” stated Quinn.

The Pan American Games rowing events will be held October 15-19 in Guzman City, Mexico.
