Urban Engineers (Urban) joined City of Poughkeepsie officials to celebrate the start of construction of a new bus transit services center that will accommodate bus operations for the City of Poughkeepsie Transit, Dutchess County LOOP, and various private bus routes in the region.

Funded by an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grant, the bus transit services center, combined with the nearby commuter rail services, will enhance the mobility of students, business representatives, professionals, and residents, and promote economic development in the City of Poughkeepsie and throughout Dutchess County.

As the lead consultant, Urban is focused on delivering efficient bus route drop off and pick up, customer amenities, provision of transit information, ease of intermodal transfers, vehicular, pedestrian, and taxi access, and safety and security of these connections, all in an aesthetically pleasing environment. Urban is responsible for project management, quality assurance, contract administration, surveying, drainage and grading design, and estimates.

“Urban’s design team is very pleased that the City engaged us to design this transit hub, a significant transportation enhancement that will serve the City, Dutchess County, and the surrounding communities for years to come,” Urban’s Project Manager, Paul Dionisio, PE, said. “Patrons of the transit hub will have access to available services and schedules to make informed travel choices for improved quality of life.”
