Urban Takes the A-Train

Urban has received four task orders from the Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA)  for design services in connection with the development of the A-Train; a planned 21-mile commuter rail line in Denton County, Texas.  The A-Train will parallel Interstate 35E and serve as an extension with the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Green Line at Trinity Mills Station in Carrollton.

DCTA recently finalized a contract with On-Track 2010, a Joint Venture of Urban Engineers, Lockwood Andrews & Newman, Inc., and Bowman Engineering to provide professional support services during final design and construction of the rail project.  These services will supplement agency personnel and will provide a variety of services in conjunction with the A-Train and DCTA’s bus operations.

Under the new task orders, Urban will provide support services for the design of a rail vehicle maintenance facility; help develop a System Safety Program Plan, a System Safety Certification Plan, and a Project Management Plan; provide vehicle procurement engineering assistance; and provide support services relating to the development, facilitation, and implementation of a fare collection system.
