Oscar Bustos', PE, greatest fear is to stop dreaming. A native of Colombia, his dreams of an engineering career brought him to NYC almost a decade ago, and they continue to drive him today. According to Oscar, Urban has been a vehicle for the continued expansion of his career as a professional engineer and further establishing a life for him in the United States.

Oscar recently celebrated the opening of Hunts Point Landing, located in NYC's South Bronx neighborhood. As the Resident Engineer for the project, he managed the construction inspection and administration. He is proud to have contributed to transforming this former industrial site on a dead-end street into a 1.5-acre linear park. The park features overlook areas, a fishing pier, kayak launch, sitting areas, and a restored shoreline with new tidal pools that naturally mitigate stormwater runoff. The project is yet another feather in the hat of the New York City Economic Development Corporation's (EDC) South Bronx Greenway Program, which is revitalizing the South Bronx with sustainable connections between the waterfront and the residential and business communities.

Like Oscar's personal achievements, the success of the Greenway Program began as a dream, and that dream became a reality, thanks to the perseverance and extraordinary efforts of the residents and inhabitants of the South Bronx. "As challenging as this project was at times, it has been very rewarding to see it evolve and benefit the community," said Oscar. "The community and EDC witnessed the transformation of the area from a crime-ridden neighborhood to a cleaner, safer, more comfortable, and much more livable area. That makes me proud."
